Working in Zeebrugge, mainly making a living by making models for architectural projects, Gerald uses his skills in his artwork to create a whole new world of little transparent boxes, three-dimensional paintings, and surprising objects, in surrealism full of humour and wit.
He often combines man and animal, really believing that both can think, and express feelings about life, and both can try to escape the trivialities of their lives.
His three-dimensional “paintings” bear poetical messages of love and hope for a nicer life. This work features innovative pictorial techniques.
His recent series of objects show foetuses, expressing that foetuses are technically the very same all over the world, but that real life is a result of partly geographic place of birth, but mainly of individual efforts. Every art lover can create his own individual art object, using Gerald’s multiples.
Above that he tries to convince us that we are not so important as we think we are.
